Ansuz ᚨ
Ansuz is the mouth-rune — breath, speech, the message that changes the room. The old verses tie it to Odin, the god who traded an eye for wisdom and hung nine nights for the runes themselves. Under all the myth: communication is power, and listening is its senior partner.
Upright
Upright, Ansuz says the words matter now: the conversation to have, the message arriving (check the inbox and the hints), advice worth taking, your own voice due for use. It blesses writing, teaching, asking, naming. Often it simply means — say it out loud; the situation is waiting on language.
Reversed
Reversed, the signal degrades: misunderstandings, manipulation dressed as counsel, your words twisted or your ears shut. Sometimes it is self-noise — so much talking that the inner voice can't book a slot. Verify quotes, reread before sending, and let silence finish its sentence.
In love
In love, Ansuz rules the talk that actual intimacy is made of. Upright, a needed conversation goes better than feared. Reversed, the fight is usually a translation error — same feeling, different dictionaries. Trade dictionaries first.
In work and money
At work, this rune backs pitches, negotiations, documentation, mentorship — every craft where language is the tool. Its warning is the meeting that replaces the work. Write the one clear paragraph; it outlives ten calls.
A step that helps
Say the postponed sentence today — to them, or at least to the page. Breath is for using.
The cat produces a new, extremely specific meow: 'A message. You'll decode it by dinner.'
Runes here are a mirror for reflection and a piece of living history — not a prediction and not a promise. For entertainment and thought.
