Personal year number: your year for 2026 and 2027
Find out which year of the nine-year cycle you are living now, what it brings to love, work and self-care, and the rhythm of all twelve months. Calculated from your birth date, no sign-up.
Calculate your personal year
What a personal year is
Your personal year is a number from 1 to 9 that numerology derives from your birth day and month and the current calendar year. The numbers go round in a circle: after year nine comes year one again. The result is a nine-year cycle that works like the seasons: planting, tending, blooming, building, change, care, quiet, harvest and release.
Knowing your year is useful for a very practical reason: it removes unfair expectations. In a planting year there is no point demanding a harvest from yourself, and in a quiet year it is fine to want fewer people around. The number does not decide for you or predict events. It gives you language to look more calmly at what is already happening.
How to calculate it by hand
It takes a minute to work out. Take a birth date of May 12 and the year 2026 as an example.
- Reduce your birth month to one digit: May is 5.
- Reduce your birth day: 12 becomes 1 + 2 = 3.
- Add the digits of the year: 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 10, then 1 + 0 = 1.
- Add the results: 5 + 3 + 1 = 9. That is the personal year: release.
In short
Master numbers 11 and 22 are usually reduced to 2 and 4 for the personal year, so the cycle stays nine years long. The calculator above works that way.

All nine years in depth
Personal year 1: plant
The first year of the nine-year cycle. Whatever you start now sets the tone for the next eight years: work, love, where you live, your habits. There is plenty of energy but no direction yet, so the question of the year is: what do I really want if I stop looking at everyone else?
Love and relationships
A good year for new people, and for honestly rewriting the rules of a long relationship. Time alone in a year one often helps you remember who you are.
Work and money
Launch projects, change jobs, learn something new. Results may not come at once: you are planting, not harvesting.
Self-care: Movement, morning rituals and small brave steps every day.
What to do
- start what you have been postponing
- change your look or your space
- say no to what keeps you in the past
What to avoid
- waiting for the perfect moment
- asking permission to live your life
- dropping new things after a month
Personal year 2: tend
The second year is about patience and connection. What you planted in year one is rooting underground, and from the outside it can look as if nothing is happening. That is normal. This year teaches cooperation, listening, agreement and attention to detail.
Love and relationships
One of the tenderest years for a couple: closeness, long talks, shared decisions. If you are single, new people tend to arrive through friends and shared projects.
Work and money
Partnerships, teams, agreements. Helping and gathering experience work better than pushing to lead.
Self-care: Sleep, a gentle routine and attention to your feelings. Sensitivity runs higher than usual.
What to do
- strengthen the relationships that matter
- polish the details
- ask for help
What to avoid
- rushing things
- deciding from hurt
- comparing your pace with anyone else's
Personal year 3: bloom
The third year opens a window: you want to speak, create and be around people. What grew quietly for two years becomes visible. It is a year of joy and self-expression, and also of scattered focus: it is easy to start ten things and finish none.
Love and relationships
Flirting, lightness, dates and celebrations. For a couple it is a good year to bring play and fun back.
Work and money
Visibility, writing, social media, creative projects, teaching. People notice you.
Self-care: Creativity as rest, beauty, time with friends. Keep the celebration from turning into burnout.
What to do
- show your work
- practise speaking and writing
- allow yourself pleasure
What to avoid
- spreading yourself thin
- spending more than you earn
- gossip and over-promising
Personal year 4: build
The fourth year is about order and effort. After a bright year three, life asks for structure: routine, budget, home, health, paperwork. It can feel heavy, but this is where you pour the foundation the rest of the cycle stands on.
Love and relationships
A test of reliability: daily life, shared plans, money. Relationships that come through a year four become very solid.
Work and money
Steady work, new qualifications, putting your affairs in order. A good year to buy a home or renovate.
Self-care: Sleep and meal routines, regular exercise, check-ups.
What to do
- make a budget and a plan
- build a routine
- finish what has dragged on
What to avoid
- looking for shortcuts
- working without rest
- quitting out of boredom
Personal year 5: move
The fifth year sits in the middle of the cycle and brings change: travel, moves, new people, surprise turns. Life shakes loose whatever has grown too rigid. The more loosely you hold your plans, the more good this year brings.
Love and relationships
Passion, new experiences and sometimes sudden meetings. Couples do well to travel and try new things so the change happens inside the relationship, not around it.
Work and money
A change of direction, new skills, business trips. A good year for bold but well-considered moves.
Self-care: Variety, sport, travel. Watch impulsive decisions and your nervous system.
What to do
- travel
- try new things
- refresh your circle
What to avoid
- clinging to what is over
- deciding on impulse
- long-term promises
Personal year 6: care
The sixth year brings you home: family, children, partner, parents, beauty around you. It is about responsibility and love, about whom you choose and whom you look after. Much of the good this year happens in your closest circle.
Love and relationships
One of the best years for a wedding, moving in, children or making peace. Relationships ask for real attention and care.
Work and money
Work with people, beauty, home and care. A good time to take responsibility and build your reputation.
Self-care: Comfort, beautiful things, looking after your body. Make sure caring for others does not eat up caring for yourself.
What to do
- make time for family
- make your home lovely
- forgive and make peace
What to avoid
- rescuing people who did not ask
- self-sacrifice to exhaustion
- controlling loved ones
Personal year 7: deepen
The seventh year turns your gaze inward. The outer world may slow down while the inner one gets vivid: books, study, therapy, spiritual practice, solitude that fills you up. It is a year of answers to big questions.
Love and relationships
You need more personal space. It helps if a couple can be quiet together. Shallow connections often fall away this year.
Work and money
Research, study, expertise, analysis. Going deeper works better than going wider.
Self-care: Rest, nature, meditation, sleep. Your body asks for quiet; do not ignore it.
What to do
- study
- rest more
- keep a journal
What to avoid
- filling silence with noise
- deciding under pressure
- shutting everyone out
Personal year 8: harvest
The eighth year brings the harvest: money, recognition, influence, the results of earlier effort. It is a year of power and the material world. It shows honestly what was sown and rewards what was done with care.
Love and relationships
Relationships are tested by money and power. A good time for big shared purchases and an honest talk about resources.
Work and money
Promotions, big deals, your own business, salary negotiations. Ask for more than you are used to.
Self-care: Strength training, stamina, a balance of work and rest. Do not turn success into a race.
What to do
- ask for a raise or raise your prices
- invest in yourself
- take the lead
What to avoid
- working yourself ragged
- measuring yourself only by money
- avoiding money talks
Personal year 9: release
The ninth year closes the cycle. Whatever has served its time leaves: a job, a relationship, things, beliefs, roles. Sometimes it is sad, but it clears the ground for a new year one. The best strategy is to finish consciously, with gratitude, rather than waiting for life to do it for you.
Love and relationships
Relationships either reach a new level of trust or end honestly. A good time to forgive and let old hurts go.
Work and money
Finishing projects, handing things over, taking stock. New big projects are better started next year.
Self-care: Clearing out things and thoughts, rest, generosity, saying goodbye to what is heavy to carry.
What to do
- finish and give away
- forgive
- look back over nine years
What to avoid
- starting something big from scratch
- clinging to what is gone
- blaming yourself for endings
The universal year in 2026 and 2027
Alongside your own number there is a universal year: the digit sum of the calendar year itself. It describes the shared backdrop everyone lives in. 2026 gives 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 10, which is universal year 1: a time of new beginnings for everyone at once. 2027 gives 11, the master number of inspiration, which reduces to 2: a year of partnership, diplomacy and patience.
When your personal year matches the universal one, its theme sounds louder. When they differ, remember that you have your own season: others may be starting while you are finishing, and that is fine.
When your personal year begins
This page uses the calendar method: your personal year changes on January 1, like the universal year. Some numerologists switch the cycle on your birthday and call the time between January 1 and your birthday a transition, when you already feel the new theme while the old one is still finishing. If your birthday is late in the year, read both years and see which fits. What matters most is using one method and watching how it plays out.
Personal month and day
Inside the year there are shorter rhythms. Your personal month is your year number plus the month number, reduced. Your personal day is the month number plus the date. The calculator above already shows all twelve months of your year. For a single day there is the personal day calculator, and for a month the personal month page. The number that never changes is your life path number.
Numerology is a cultural symbolic system for reflection. A number does not predict health, money, legal outcomes or the quality of a relationship.
