Visibility and safe viewing
A lunar eclipse is visible from the night side of Earth where the Moon is above the horizon. A solar eclipse occupies a narrower footprint, and totality or annularity only the central path. Never look directly at the Sun through ordinary sunglasses, cameras, binoculars or telescopes; use an undamaged ISO 12312-2 eclipse viewer or indirect projection. NASA.
