Year 4: the fruit & flowers anniversary

What the year means

Year four blossoms on purpose: fruit and flowers say the roots have taken and the garden is producing. It's the harvest-check year — what have we grown that we can actually taste? Tend what fruits; prune what only takes water.

Gifts that fit

A fruit tree or serious plant (a gift with a future), a ridiculous abundance of seasonal flowers, a fruit-and-cheese feast, jam you make together and label with the year. The modern 'appliances' is the unsexy truth: year four often needs a better kettle.

A tiny ritual

Plant something — pot counts — and name it after the year. Watering it becomes a tiny weekly anniversary.

The cat inspects the new plant with agricultural authority: "Growth. Under my supervision now."

Questions here are invitations, never interrogation: skip any, return to any, answer with tea. The goal is a warmer conversation, not a complete one.
