The Moon in the Black Tarot
Fears promoted to premonitions; a fog it is cosy inside.
Portrait of the shadow
The Black Moon lights the world so that every bush is a beast. The woman who lives under it stopped telling intuition from anxiety long ago: both speak in whispers, both 'just feel it'. The difference she prefers not to see: intuition knows, anxiety composes — and always in one genre. This card's fog is not outside but within, and it pays: in fog the road is invisible, so one may be excused from walking it. Fears have become her cartography — by them she decides where she must not go, and 'must not' has slowly eaten most of the map. The Moon's shadow is trusting the worst in yourself as the most honest. The way out is offensively prosaic: verification. One fear — one fact. The Moon cannot stand a floodlight; in ordinary daylight, half her monsters turn out to be a coat on a chair.
The trap
Anxiety has become her way of knowing the world: if it's frightening, it must be true. She divines, googles symptoms, reads signs — anything but asking directly.
The shadow in love and at work
In love: Imagines the partner's dark side for him; jealous of scenarios from her own head.
At work: Catastrophising: every message from the boss means 'it has begun'.
The way out
Take one frightening 'it seems' and test it with a fact: ask, look, measure.
