What this couples alignment quiz actually checks
Most couples talk easily about the next weekend and much less easily about the next ten years. This quiz walks through the topics that tend to get postponed: commitment over the next two years, marriage, children, money, extended family, work and rest, fidelity, sex and changing needs, social media, ambitions, where to live, health and risk, and how you handle conflict.
Each statement is answered on a five-step scale, from Yes to No. The point is not to pass. The point is to notice where you answer with confidence and where you realise you are guessing. An honest I don't know is often the most useful answer on the page, because it marks a conversation you have not had yet.
The five results, from different maps to strong alignment
- Different maps — several big expectations do not match right now; love can be real while the proposed life is incompatible.
- Important gaps — affection is there, but unspoken scripts about the future are doing the work agreements should do.
- Some alignment, some crossroads — real common ground next to questions that could change the shape of your future.
- Mostly the same direction — broadly compatible, with a few choices that still need names.
- Strong alignment — you know what you want, what your partner wants and where the genuine differences live.
How to take it together and what to do next
The richest version is to take it separately, without peeking, and then compare results over tea rather than in the middle of an argument. Answer about your relationship as it is today, not the one you are hoping for. If you answer for both of you, try to say what you actually know your partner thinks, not what you assume.
Afterwards, pick one statement where you hesitated and turn it into a question: What would a good next two years look like to you? One topic per evening is plenty. If you want a gentle script, our questions before marriage and deep questions for couples give you ready openings, and Can We Have the Hard Conversation? helps you choose a good moment for the trickier ones.

Frequently asked questions
How long does the quiz take?
It has 18 statements and takes about five minutes. Taking it separately and comparing afterwards adds the most value.
Does a low score mean we should break up?
No. The result shows how much of your future has been talked through, not whether you love each other. A low score is a list of conversations to have, ideally calmly and more than once.
Is my result saved or shared with my partner?
Your answers are counted in your browser and are not sent to your partner. Only the result name is saved to My shelf in this browser; you choose whether to share the card or the invite link.
