Should I Text Them?

Twelve questions for the message hovering over the send button. Use the result as a conversation prompt, not a verdict.

12 questions · about 4 minutes · 5 reflection outcomes

A pause before you press send

Some messages are easy. Others hover over the send button for an hour while you rewrite the same sentence. This quiz is for those. Its nine statements do not judge the wording of your text; they check what is behind it. Are you curious, or is anxiety demanding relief? Have they replied with interest before? Is this your fourth unanswered message in a row, or a boundary you set only yesterday? Would tomorrow-you be glad you sent it?

It is quick, a little playful, and surprisingly clarifying: most of the time the real question is not "what should I say" but "why now".

The five possible answers

How to answer honestly and what to do next

Have the draft in front of you while you answer, and read each statement against that exact message, not against the relationship in general. If you are tempted to answer "I don't know" everywhere, notice that; it usually means the text is doing more emotional work than it should.

Reflection prompt: finish the sentence "I am sending this because…". If the ending is about them and the moment, you are probably fine. If it is about quieting a feeling, try one of the exercises in calming your nervous system in five minutes first, then decide again. A small next step either way: save the draft outside the chat, and if it is late, read how to stop overthinking at night. Wondering whether your feelings are too much? Am I overreacting? is a gentle place to check.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the quiz take?

Nine statements with five answer options each, about two minutes, which is roughly how long it takes to cool down before sending.

Does the quiz read my message?

No. You never type or paste your message anywhere; you only answer the statements, and the result is calculated in your browser.

What if I got "maybe"?

The middle result means the situation is genuinely mixed. Shorten the message to one clear purpose, check your motive, and consider waiting one sleep before you decide.
