Dreaming of dogs
Bounding to meet you, guarding a gate, or baring teeth — dog dreams are relationship dreams in fur: loyalty, friendship, protection, and what happens to each under pressure.

A friendly dream dog usually carries the warm portfolio — loyalty around you, a friendship's health, your own faithful instincts. An aggressive or biting dog flips the same coin: a trusted bond showing teeth, conflict with someone close, or feeling betrayed where you expected guarding. A chained or neglected dog often stands for your own loyalty or playfulness kept on too short a lead. Puppies file under 'baby': something new needing training and treats.

Old books were blunt: a barking dog, gossip or warning; a bite, betrayal by a friend or quarrel; a faithful dog, true friends and protection on the road. Several traditions read a dog's behaviour toward the dreamer as an honest census of their allies — folk wisdom trusting dogs' judgment, as folk wisdom does.
When it's not symbolic at all
Dog owners: continuity supplies most of it, walks and all. A recent bite, a scary encounter, a neighbour's barker at 2 a.m. (incorporated live, like the cat's yowl) — all direct bookings. After a real dog loss, visitation dreams are common and often gentle; take them as the heart's memorial service, not a message requiring decoding.
