Best Wedding Dates
Beautiful weekends for the next year and a half, chosen with an eye on the moon phase and the number of the day. The waxing moon and “union numbers” earn more stars — but the choice, of course, is always yours.
Calculating the dates…
The rating is for entertainment and considers the lunar phase, lunar day and the date's numerology. The best date is the one that is dear to you two.
How the wedding date rating works
The calendar looks only at Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from the current month to the end of 2027. Each date starts with one star and then gains or loses points:
- +1 if the moon is waxing (growing from new to full) — the traditional backdrop for beginnings.
- +1 if it is a full moon.
- −1 on a new moon or the 29th lunar day, the darkest point of the cycle.
- +1 for lunar days 3 to 14, the steady growing stretch.
- +1 if the date’s number is 2 or 6 (“numbers of union”), 9 (“the number of service”) or 22 (a master number).
The total is capped between one and three stars. Three-star dates get a short tag: “a grand celebration” for a full moon, “on the waxing moon” otherwise, or “an intimate ceremony”. Two stars read as “a good day”, one star as “neutral”.
How the date number is calculated: examples
Write the date as day, month, year, add every digit and reduce, keeping 11 and 22.
- Saturday 12 June 2027: 1 + 2 + 0 + 6 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 7 = 20 → 2. A number of union, so it earns the extra point.
- Saturday 11 September 2027: 1 + 1 + 0 + 9 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 7 = 22. A master number — also a bonus.
- Saturday 18 September 2027: 1 + 8 + 0 + 9 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 7 = 29 → 11. Shown as 11, but 11 is not on the bonus list, so the number adds nothing.
The moon part is calculated separately for each date, so two Saturdays with the same number can still end up with different stars.
Folk tradition versus practical reality
Many cultures have date customs: avoiding certain months, preferring a growing moon, choosing a day that feels symbolically “round”. They are lovely to know and harmless to follow when you can. But the date that actually works usually depends on things no calendar can rate:
- Venue and vendor availability. Popular summer Saturdays go first; Fridays, Sundays and shoulder seasons often give more choice.
- Guests’ travel. Check school holidays, long weekends and how far key people must come. A beautiful date that grandparents cannot reach is not beautiful.
- Season and weather. Outdoor plans need a realistic backup, whatever the moon is doing.
- Official registration. If you are legally marrying, check how and when your registry office or officiant takes bookings — rules differ by country and city, so ask them directly.
A calm approach: make a shortlist of practical dates first, then use the stars to choose between them. For exact phase times, see Moon phases 2027; for the numbers side, the numerology section.
Frequently asked questions
Why are weekdays not shown?
The calendar only rates Friday, Saturday and Sunday, since most couples choose those. A weekday wedding can be just as good and is often easier to book.
Is a waning moon bad for a wedding?
No. In folk tradition the waning moon is associated with completion and calm, which suits intimate ceremonies. The rating simply gives waxing dates an extra star.
What if our dream date has only one star?
Keep it. The rating is for entertainment and knows nothing about your story, your guests or your venue — the date that means something to you both matters more.
Astronomy Engine calculates the lunar phase. Lunar day means one of 30 equal 12° phase sectors. Traditional moonrise-based numbering may differ; symbolic date ratings are for entertainment.
