Mannaz ᛗ
Mannaz is the human — the self among selves. Its shape is two Wunjo runes facing each other: joy meeting joy, or two people mirroring. It is the rune of identity, community, and the unavoidable fact that we become ourselves through each other — for richer and for audit.
Upright
Upright, Mannaz turns the light on people: help arrives human-shaped, cooperation succeeds, your standing in the tribe matters and holds. It also opens the mirror — honest self-assessment, feedback worth requesting, seeing yourself at last as others reasonably do. Its blessing is belonging without dissolving: fully yourself, fully among. Ask for the help; offer the seat; the network is the resource this week.
Reversed
Reversed, the mirror warps: isolation self-imposed, communities turned echo chamber, or identity outsourced entirely to the audience. It can mark the enemy within too — self-sabotage wearing your own face. Before blaming the tribe, check the reflection: which running critique in your head has your voice but someone else's authorship?
In love
In love, Mannaz asks whether you are known — actually, currently known, not archived from year one. It blesses couples who keep updating each other's file. Reversed, one of you is performing a self for the other; exhausting, and it always leaks. Reintroduce yourselves over dinner.
In work and money
At work, it rules HR in the deep sense — teams, culture, mentoring, reputation, the human infrastructure under every org chart. Mannaz careers rise on being genuinely good with and to people. Its warning: politics is the shadow of community. Stay in the light half.
A step that helps
Ask two people you trust one question: 'what's one thing I don't see about myself?' Flinch, thank them, use it.
