Sugar-free cottage cheese dessert with banana and berries

This sugar-free cottage cheese dessert takes ten minutes and looks like a restaurant mousse served in a glass. Ripe banana provides the sweetness, while cottage cheese blended with Greek yoghurt gives a light, airy texture. The mousse is layered with berries and topped with toasted almonds for crunch. It's a high-protein treat that actually satisfies a sweet craving: about 200 kcal and 20 g of protein per portion. Enjoy it for breakfast, as a snack or in the evening when you fancy something sweet. Children love it too, especially with strawberries or raspberries.
Method

If the almonds are raw, toast them in a dry pan for 3-4 minutes until fragrant, then roughly chop.
Put the cottage cheese, Greek yoghurt and banana, broken into pieces, into a blender.
Blend for 1-2 minutes until completely smooth with no curds left.
Taste and add a pinch of cinnamon if you like. For a sweeter mousse, add another half banana.
Cut large berries into pieces and leave small ones whole.
Take 3 glasses or dessert bowls. Layer a spoonful of berries, 2-3 spoonfuls of cream, then more berries and cream.
Finish with berries and chopped almonds. Serve straight away or chill for 30 minutes.
Tips for success
- No blender? Push the cottage cheese through a sieve and mix it with the yoghurt and a fork-mashed banana.
- For a thicker mousse, use 9% cottage cheese or reduce the yoghurt to 100 g.
- Banana darkens on standing, so eat the dessert within a few hours.
- Add a spoonful of cocoa to the cream for a chocolate version.
Serving and storage
Serve chilled in clear glasses so the layers show. Garnish with a mint leaf and a dusting of cinnamon.
Keep covered in the fridge for up to 12 hours. The cream alone, without berries and nuts, keeps for a day.
Variations
- Chocolate: blend 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder into the cream.
- Crunchy: add 2 tablespoons of granola or toasted oats between the layers.
- With persimmon: use a ripe, soft persimmon instead of the banana.
