Soul Urge Number Calculator by Full Name

Calculate Soul Urge from vowels, Expression from all letters and Personality from consonants. Latin and Russian alphabets have separate disclosed 1–9 tables, and every arithmetic step stays visible.

Three questions, one name

Soul Urge

Vowels are read as the quieter motivation: what feels worth wanting when nobody is grading the performance.

Expression

All letters form the broad pattern of capacities and the style through which a name enters the world.

Personality

Consonants are traditionally read as the outer texture first encountered by other people.

Name numerology is symbolic tradition, not linguistic science or personality measurement. Transliteration can change a result, which is why this calculator keeps Latin and Cyrillic separate.

Soul Urge calculation: a worked example

The calculator gives each letter its Pythagorean value (A, J, S = 1; B, K, T = 2 … I, R = 9), then sorts the letters into two piles. Vowels — A, E, I, O, U — make the Soul Urge. Everything else, including Y, makes the Personality. All letters together make the Expression. Each total is reduced, keeping 11, 22 and 33.

Example — Lily Anne Brooks:

Add a birth date and the calculator also shows Maturity: Life Path plus Expression, reduced the same way.

What the Soul Urge numbers mean

The Soul Urge is read as what quietly satisfies you — the thing you would keep doing even if nobody noticed.

When Soul Urge and Personality disagree

The example above is a classic split: a 9 inside (wanting to give broadly) with a 1 outside (coming across as independent, even brisk). People often meet the 1 first and only later discover the 9. If your two numbers differ, ask:

  1. What do people usually assume I want?
  2. What do I actually want when I am tired and honest?
  3. Where could I let the inner number show a little earlier?

This gap is often where the most useful self-knowledge sits. For the wider picture, compare the Soul Urge with your Life Path and look at how both play out month to month in your Personal Months.

Limits worth keeping in mind

The vowel rule is a convention. Whether Y counts as a vowel, how accented letters are treated and which name you enter all change the answer, and no version is objectively true. Treat the Soul Urge as a gentle question about motivation, never as a claim about who you must be or whom you should love.

Frequently asked questions

Which name should I enter?

The traditional convention uses the complete name recorded at birth. You can compare a current name separately, but label the change rather than mixing spellings.

Is Y counted as a vowel?

This calculator treats Y and Russian Й as consonants and states that convention. Other schools may decide from pronunciation.

Is the Soul Urge the same as the Heart’s Desire number?

Yes. Soul Urge, Heart’s Desire and Soul number are three names for the same calculation from the vowels of the birth name.

What does the Maturity number add?

It combines Life Path and Expression and is traditionally read as a theme that becomes clearer in the second half of life. It only appears if you enter a birth date.

Why does the calculator need both vowels and consonants?

Because it shows three numbers at once. A name with no vowels or no consonants would leave one of them empty, so the calculator asks for a fuller name.
