Why some calendars show another number
A traditional local lunar day can begin at moonrise, so its number depends on location and sometimes creates a very short first or thirtieth day. The equal-angle system used here divides the continuous synodic cycle into thirty reproducible parts. Both are conventions for labelling a cycle, not rival astronomical objects.
