Why one return can have three dates
Saturn's apparent geocentric longitude can cross the natal degree, reverse during its annual retrograde loop, and cross it again. That creates a direct–retrograde–direct sequence. Some charts receive one pass, some three; the surrounding season is wider than the exact conjunction days.

How the Saturn return calculator finds your dates
First the script calculates where Saturn stood at your birth, in tropical ecliptic longitude as seen from Earth. Then it searches three age windows (roughly 25 to 34, 54 to 64 and 83 to 94) in four-day steps, watching for the moment transiting Saturn crosses that exact degree, and narrows each crossing down by repeated halving until it is precise. For every hit it checks Saturn's motion and labels the pass direct or retrograde. Dates are rounded to the calendar day in UTC, so a pass shown near midnight may fall on the neighbouring date in your time zone.
A worked example: three passes in one return
Someone born on 3 November 1993 at 19:15 in London has natal Saturn in Aquarius at about 23°. The calculator finds the first return as three exact passes: 21 April 2022 (direct, age 28.5), 20 July 2022 (retrograde, age 28.7) and 12 January 2023 (direct, age 29.2). Saturn touched the degree, backed over it during its retrograde loop and crossed it a final time.
Compare a birth on 22 February 1998 with Saturn in Aries at about 17°: here the tool finds a single direct pass on 5 April 2027, at age 29.1. One pass is not a lighter return, just a different geometry. In both cases the whole season, often a year or more around the passes, is what astrologers read, not the single day.
How to work with your Saturn return
- Look up the sign. Your Saturn sign describes the area where you are learning structure; the return is a check-in on that lesson.
- Map the passes onto your calendar. Note what you were deciding around each date. In a three-pass return, the first pass often raises a question, the retrograde revisits it and the last one asks for a commitment.
- Ask Saturn's questions. Which commitments are truly mine? What am I carrying out of duty to someone else's plan? What would I build if I took my own adulthood seriously?

The conjunction is an astronomical repetition; the meaning is a symbolic tradition. Plenty of people experience their return quietly, and big changes in the late twenties happen to people of every chart. If the window coincides with a hard period, the frame can help you reflect, but decisions about work, money or health still deserve practical information and real advice.

Because Saturn appears to move backwards for several months each year. If the retrograde loop happens over your natal degree, Saturn crosses it forwards, backwards and forwards again.
Does birth time matter for the Saturn return?
Only slightly. Saturn moves very slowly, so the time of birth shifts the exact dates by little; the UTC rounding can still move a pass by one calendar day.
When does a Saturn return start and end?
There is no official boundary. Many astrologers read the season from when Saturn enters your natal Saturn sign until it leaves it, with the exact passes as the peak moments.
