Why the exact date can matter
Mercury can change signs close to a birth date boundary. Retrograde loops may also carry it back into a sign it recently left, so a generic month table cannot always decide the result. This calculator uses geocentric apparent longitude and checks whether that longitude was increasing or decreasing.
Astronomical position is factual; the personality language is an astrological tradition for reflection, not a scientific assessment.
